After a sucessful 27 year career in the healthcare field, Barbara Baxter achieved a life long goal of receiving a four year degree at the age of 53 and graduated with honors.
Beginning her career in healthcare in 1977 at a newly built nursing facility in Decatur, GA where she held the position of Business Office Manager until she acquired her Nursing Home Administrator’s license in 1980. After passing the National Administrators Boards, she was promoted to Administrator in 1981 and moved to a Brain Center facility which she helped fully renovate in 1983.
Barbara continued to push the bounds of her career and was promoted to Director of Operations in 1990. She traveled in this role for eight years until the company merged with a larger company at which point she took on the role of Administrator of Record at Woodstock Nursing & Rehab Center until her retirement in 2017.
Barbara also served on Congressman Tom Price’s Health Committee for many years. Offering insight to legislators on what long term care residents needed. Mrs. Baxter even went to Washington, DC to visit legislators on behlaf of the Georgia Healthcare and American Healthcare Associations.
Barbara and her husband are active members of the Cherokee County community as she continues to act as a mentor to nursing home administrators across the State of Georgia.
