Former Chief of Surgery at Northside Hospital – Cherokee, Dr. Weiner established his Eye Care practice in 1991.
Dr. Mark Weiner established the Weiner Eye Center, LLC, to serve patients of North Georgia in 1991. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale College and Harvard Medical School, he completed an ophthalmology residency at Washington University in St. Louis and a fellowship in corneal surgery at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Weiner received both the National Research Service Award and the Physician Scientist Award from the National Eye Institute. After serving on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, he moved to Georgia with his wife, Nancy – a neuro-ophthalmologist – and began caring for patients in Canton.
He has twice served as Chief of Surgery at Northside Hospital – Cherokee. He established the eye surgical unit at the hospital and was the first to perform small incision, no stitch cataract surgery there and the first to perform corneal transplant surgery in Cherokee County.
